Suites & Arena Overview
Madison Square Garden, located in New York, New York, is home to the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL), New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), New York Liberty of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), St. John’s NCAA Division I men’s basketball team, and the NCAA Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament. When not in use by one of New York’s sports teams, the historic venue frequently serves as host to concerts and family shows.
Madison Square Garden – the oldest arena in the NHL and second oldest in the NBA – is owned and operated by The Madison Square Garden Company.
Madison Square Garden has decided not to sell its naming rights. The venue derives its name from the park (Madison Square) on which the previous two gardens were located. Notable events hosted at MSG include the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Democratic and Republican National Conventions, NBA Draft, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, visits by Pope John Paul in 1979 and Pope Francis in 2015, and The Fight of the Century – Ali v. Frazier – in 1971. Notable musical performers to play MSG include Elvis, Elton John, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, U2, Bruce Springsteen, The Grateful Dead, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
