Seattle Mariners FAQs

All about Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners compete in the Major League Baseball’s American League West Division. The team joined the American League as an expansion team in 1977, and then the MLB in the American League/Major League Baseball merger.

Since 1999, they have played all their home games in the SoDo District in downtown Seattle, at T-Mobile Park. The “Mariners” name comes from the obvious presence of marine culture in Seattle. Their team colors are navy blue, metallic silver, and Northwest green. The Mariners begin the 2018 season with high hopes of finally winning World Series Championship, and are one of 7 teams in the league that have never won the pennant as of the 2017 season. They are also one of two teams in the league to have never played in a World Series. Famous Mariners hall-of-famers include Ken Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson, Dan Wilson, and long time manager Lou Piniella. (Amongst many others.)
